About CosmoComp

CosmoComp is a Initial Training Network funded under the EC's Marie Curie programme. The scientific topic of the network is to understand the formation of structures in the universe from the smallest dwarf galaxies to the cosmic web of dark matter. The growth of structure is modelled using computer simulations, which are often large calculations run in parallel on supercomputers.

The aim of CosmoComp is to train young researchers in the skills needed to carry our research using numerical simulations. CosmoComp started in December 2009 and will run until the end of November 2013. The ITN is coordinated by Durham and contains members of the Virgo Consortium for Cosmological Simulation, along with other leading nodes in numerical simulations from Europe, China and Latin America. The mid-term review was held in Paris on September 19th 2011. A series of workshops have been organised this year and there will be a network wide meeting next year (TBA).
